WHEELING - Runners and walkers in Saturday's 37th annual Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classis passed through an oasis along National Road between Washington Avenue and the top of Chicken Neck Hill.
Members of the St. Michael's Parish School track team and other students greeted the runners with cups of water and sports drink. Volunteers at the Free Wheelchair Mission offered water just down the street from St. Michael's. On the top of the hill, members of the Christ United Methodist Church provided ice chips.
John Warnick coordinated a joint effort between the organizations.

Reaching out with ice chips for runners in the Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic Run and Walk Saturday at the top of Chicken Neck Hill are members of the Christ United Methodist Church.
"I believe we are one body of Christian unity," he said. "Doing small things with great love proves that people of the Ohio Valley are united to make a difference.
"This is one way we can reach out to the community and possibly serve as a stepping stone to revealing God's love to them."
