Try Sweeping Sidewalks

June 2, 2013
The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Editor, News-Register:

Definition of a broom: long handle with straw bristles at one end, used for sweeping. While walking I've passed many sidewalks that have grass clippings scattered over them from residence cutting grass and not sweeping the walks. The clippings get in the groves of your tennis shoes and you drag them home with you.

Growing up on the South end of the Island the ladies on my street swept their porches, steps, sidewalks out into the street. If the street sweeper was due the next day they swept up piles, if not they picked it up and put in garbage bags. In the fall sometimes the sidewalks were swept two and three times.

It not only makes your property look neat and well kept, but the community you live in makes a good appearance.
