McCOMBS, John Anthony, 67, of McMechen, WV, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at home.
He was born June 23, 1945 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Jack E. and Mary Etta O'Connell McCombs.
He was a former employee of the Ormet Corp., a member of St. James Catholic Church, American Legion Blake Brothers Post #46, Benwood, WV, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Thomas P. McCombs, and one sister, Etta Minor.
Surviving is his wife, Cheryl A. Krupica McCombs; five children, Michael Anthony McCombs of Canonsburg, PA, Susan Marie Broski (Bryan) of Moundsville, WV, Sharon Lynn Protiva (Edward) of Houston, PA, John Anthony McCombs Jr., and Andrew Vincent McCombs of McMechen, WV; two sisters, Sherry Moore (Arthur) of Glen Dale, WV, Becky Cramer (Cliff) of Moundsville, WV; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Anne Broski, Cloey Nicole Broski, Emma Rose Protiva, Grace Ann Protiva and Jack James Protiva, his puppy Buddy; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Friends received noon-8 p.m. Monday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, WV where Vigil services will be held at 6 p.m and American Legion services at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, WV.
Interment and military honors in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
