Patricia Kolas

KOLAS, Patricia A. "Pat", 80, of McMechen, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013, surrounded by her family after her second courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on June 17, 1932, in McMechen, a daughter of the late Earl and Bernadine (Cooper) Tribett.

She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in McMechen, the St. James Rosary Altar Society, and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren.

She worked as a dispatcher for AT&T in McMechen, a cook for Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, W.Va., and for the St. James and St. John Catholic Churches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus L. Kolas in 1985; three brothers, Robert, Alfred F. "Gene," and George T. Tribett; and one sister, Mrs. John (Helen M. "Pooch") Flading.

She is survived by four sons, Stephen E. (Linda) Kolas of Wheeling, Joseph E. (Carol) Kolas of Courtland, N.Y., Daniel P. (Cindy) Kolas of Glen Dale, and George E. Kolas of McMechen; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (A. Michelle) Myers of Glen Dale; one sister, Mrs. John (Martha L.) Knoblich of Saverna Park, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Christina Jarjobka, David Kolas, Mathew Kolas, Andrew Kolas, Emily Kolas, Angela Myers, Joseph Myers, Eric Myers, Ryan Kolas, and Jeremy Kolas; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kolas, and Leona Kolas; and several nieces and nephews Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen with Rev. Bekeh Utietiang as celebrant. Interment will follow at McMechen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Catholic Charities of WV, 2000 Main St., Wheeling WV 26003.
