Rally Was a Success

June 23, 2013
The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Editor, News-Register:

I am writing this letter to express gratitude to all the people who worked to make the Wheeling Water Warriors' Awareness Rally a success.

The rally was held in Saturday, June 15, from noon to 4 p.m. at Garden Park in Warwood, to draw awareness and opposition to the proposed Greenhunter frack waste treatment facility which is proposed to be built in Warwood about 1. 2 miles upstream from our public water treatment facility.

First of all, I am thankful for the use of Garden Park and the pool and to all who helped in setting that up.

Next, I am thankful for the local musicians Joe Zelek, the Cabin Fever Strings Band, Uncle Eddie and Robin, who donated their time and talents for free.

Furthermore, I am thankful to Dr. Ben Stout, biology professor at Wheeling Jesuit University, and to his students who used their time and talents to research the effects of fracking on our water and for preparing handouts and presenting his findings at our rally.

I am thankful for everyone who got up to speak up on their concerns and questions about the proposed Greenhunter facility and to all who signed petitions.

I am thankful to Kate Marshall and all of the volunteers who donated prizes and set up all of the children's activities

I am thankful to the local and state-wide media outlets who got the word out on the Awareness Rally and to all who attended and reported on the rally.

The Wheeling Water Warriors Facebook page is www.facebook.wheelingwaterwarriors. Greenhunter is expected to present their site plan to the Ohio County Planning Commission on July 8, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Please check the Facebook page for any other updates and upcoming events.

Last, I am thankful to all who attended and to all who worked behind the scenes to make the Wheeling Water Warriors' Awareness Rally a success. Many people came together to make it happen. Thank you all for getting involved!!
