At the Old Ball Game

June 30, 2013
The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Editor, News-Register:

Mighty Dave strikes out again:

David McKinley was baseball mad, Had the fever and had it bad.

Just to root for the Washington town crew,

On a Thursday in June Congressional friends David called to see if they'd like to go

To see a show, but speaker John Boehner said, "No, I'll tell you what you can do:"

Take me out to the ball game,

Take me out with the crowd;

Pay the people with some peanuts and a Cracker Jack prize

I don't care if I never get back to West Virginia.

Let me root, root, root for the Republican Team.

If they don't win, it's a shame - just ask Mitt and Sarah.

For it's one, two, three strikes, the people of the Mountain State need work

at the rust belt old factory ball game.

Congressman McKinley saw all the games, Knew the Elephants by their first names. Told the umpire he was wrong,

All along,

Good and strong.

When the score was just two to two,

David McKinley knew what to do,

Just to cheer up the Grand Old Party he knew, HE made the Capitol Hill gang sing this song:

Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd;

Pay the people with some peanuts and a Cracker Jack, prize

I don't care if I never get back to West Virginia .

Let me root, root, root for the Eric Cantor's team,

If they don't win, it's a shame.

For its one, two, three strikes, you're out, of work in the Mountain State

at Paul Ryan's old ball game.

Final score:

Wealthy Republicans "Fat Cats," millions.

Workers of West Virginia, zero
