Clarence Porter

PORTER, Clarence Edwin "Ed," 85, of McMechen, WV, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.

He was born July 5, 1928 in McMechen, a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Pyle) Porter.

He was retired from the the former Gall & Lautar Insurance Agency, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, member of the McMechen/ Benwood United Methodist Church, member of the Masons Ohio Lodge #1 of Wheeling, 32nd Degree Mason, El Tor Grotto in Wheeling, Eastern Star Chapter #86, Moundsville, American Legion of McMechen, VFW of Moundsville, former city councilman and city clerk for McMechen, loved working on his computer, hockey, all WVU sports and was known for always having plenty of jokes to tell.

In addition his his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Porter.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Joretta Simsa Porter; daughter, Winona Porter (Rob Suto) of McMechen; brother, Dr. Charles (Sarah) Porter of Triadelphia, WV, and several other family member and close friends.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, BenwoodMcMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen with Pastor April Forkey officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the CFOV Dialysis Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, P.O. Box 670, Wheeling, WV. 26003.
