MORRIS, Martha Jeanne Minger Whitecotton, 83, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at home with family surrounding her.
She was born September 25, 1929, in Wheeling, WV the daughter of the late George and Augusta Mae Miller Minger Macklin.
She was an LPN for the local hospitals; a nurse for nine years with the Ohio County Schools and was a secretary for 10 years at the Fourth Street United Methodist Church, Wheeling; she was a 40 year member of St. Mathew's Lutheran Church, Boggs Run, Benwood.
Mrs. Morris was a member and president of the Church Women United; past member and past president of the Wheeling Business and Professional Women and past member of the former Ohio Valley Corral.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hank Whitecotton; three brothers, George, Bill and Jessie Minger; two sisters, Pearl Clark and Mona McCarty.
Surviving are her husband, Donald E. Morris; her five children, Gary Whitecotton (Debbi) of Wheeling, Karen Whitecotton of Moundsville, WV, Henry Whitecotton (Diana) of Key West, FL, Cheryl Lynn (Grant) of Wheeling, WV and Barry Whitecotton (Brenda) of TN; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 3545 Jacob St., South Wheeling (304-232-4060).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Boggs Run, Benwood, WV, with the Reverend Roger Harms officiating. Entombment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrerd, WV.
