Cash Plentiful For Obamacare Push

August 20, 2013
The Intelligencer , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

Federal funds - make that your tax dollars - just keep rolling in to West Virginia as the Obama administration tries to use the spoonful of sugar approach to force us to take its medicine.

Nearly $650,000 is headed to two companies the federal government hopes will help enroll people in health insurance plans acceptable under the new national health care law. Advanced Patient Advocacy in Charleston and West Virginia Parent Training and Information in Clarksburg have been chosen to receive the money for their role as "marketplace navigators." One does not need much imagination to guess which direction the companies' compasses will point.

If West Virginia sought that kind of federal funding for any number of actual needs, this administration has already proven it would less-than-politely reject the request.

Any business owner reduced to shelling out that kind of money to try to force customers into buying a product they do not want or need would quickly change strategies, and likely, the product. But this administration has gone to great lengths to avoid learning from successful businesses and organizations.

Think of what kind of real good could be done in this state with $650,000. Clearly, Washington has the cash to hand out. But Barack Obama has decided it is better spent to keep shoring up his pet project, "Obamacare."
