Weekend a Feast Of Enjoyable Events

August 31, 2013
By THE INTELLIGENCER , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

We've saved the best for last here in the Ohio Valley. This Labor Day weekend, viewed by many as the end of the summer season, is packed with wonderful activities.

Here in Wheeling, they include the annual Vintage Raceboat Regatta at the Heritage Port, Fort Henry Days at Oglebay Park, and the Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild's annual show, also at the park. All three events are scheduled for today and Sunday.

But that's not all. At 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Oglebay, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra presents its free "Music Under the Stars" concert, followed by a fireworks show.

On Monday, one of the largest classic car and motorcycle shows in the region will be held at The Highlands shopping complex. It is the annual Dan Dague Memorial Car and Bike Show, held by Lions Clubs throughout the area.

There really is no better weekend of the year to enjoy special events right here in the Ohio Valley. The hundreds of volunteers and sponsors responsible for them are to be commended.
