I would like to take this opportunity to thank the supporters of the Harrison Hills City School District's Back to School Kick-off that was held at the John Stevenson Building at Harrison Central on Aug. 28. Nearly 600 students and their families attended this event and they were able to received notebooks, paper, pencils, crayons, glue and folders.
I would like to thank Steubenville Wal Mart for their donation towards supplies and providing reusable bags. Carriage Inn and ProMedica provided bags, also. Refreshments were provided by Harrison Hills, ProMedica and Domino's Pizza, plus Cadiz McDonalds provided apple slice snacks. Carnival inflatable rides and games were available for the students.
A total of 18 community partners participated in this event and also provided school supplies and treats. The community partners were: OSU Extension, Harrison Community Hospital, Job and Family Services, WIC, Help Me Grow, COAD, Advance Harrison, SEA, Belmont Health Department, Harrison Board of Developmental Disabilities, Harcatus Head Start, WOUB, Farm Bureau, American Red Cross, Crossroads Counseling, Harrison County Sheriff's Office and Goodwill Agency.
I would like to especially thank Pam Parrish for her yearly assistance with this event. I would also like to thank the Harrison Board of Developmental Disabilities staff and clients for assembling the student school supply bags. Finally, I would like to thank the Harrison Hills School Board members and the Harrison Hills staff members for their continued support of this event. This Back to School Kick-off is truly an excellent example where the community and school district work together to provide a wonderful event for all.
