BANNOCK - A Tuscarawas County man died Sunday afternoon after he wrecked his all-terrain vehicle at Powerline Park, Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas said.

According to Lucas, 21-year-old Nathan Wright of Strasburg, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies got the call about the accident at around 2 p.m. Sunday, he said.

Lucas said it's unclear what caused Wright to lose control of his four-wheeler in a wooded area of the park, located along Pogue Road. He did not know whether Wright was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, but he noted Ohio law does not require ATV operators to wear protective equipment while riding on private property.

Lucas declined to release further details about the accident.

Powerline Park is a roughly 1,000-acre facility offering trails, mud holes, a rock garden and a large campsite for ATV riders. It is located about four miles northwest of St. Clairsville, off exit 213 from Interstate 70.
