Ernests Mark 50 Years

Gary G. "Bucky" and Betty Sue Hartzell Ernest of Breckenridge, Texas, formerly of Cameron, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 14.

They were united in marriage Sept. 14, 1963 at First Christian Church, Morgantown, with the Rev. C. Edward Willis officiating the ceremony.

Betty Sue Ernest is the daughter of the late John and Lucy Hartzell of Cameron. She is a graduate of Cameron High School. She is now retired after working in the oil industry in Texas for over 30 years.

Gary Ernest is the son of the late Kenneth "Buck" and Pauline Ernest of Cameron. He graduated from Cameron High School and accepted a job at First National Bank of Cameron, where he remained for 12 years. He then took a position with the city of Breckenridge, Texas, where he remained until his retirement at the end of 2010. At the time of his retirement, he was city manager of Breckenridge.

They are the parents of two children. The family includes Michael and his wife, Sokie, of Richardson, Texas, and Melissa and her husband, Keven Crutchley, of Owasso, Okla. They have four grandchildren.

They will celebrate their anniversary Saturday, Sept. 14, with a small gathering with family and a few close friends.
