BELLAIRE - St. John Central continued its torrid pace in volleyball action with a a 25-22, 25-13 and 25-19 victory in straight sets against Beallsville.

The Irish (7-1) won for the seventh straight time after a season-opening loss to Barnesville.

Deadlocked nine times, the last at 21-all, the Irish tallied four of the last five points to take the opening set in 20 minutes.

Then tied at 5-5 in the second set, the Irish used the serving of senior Abbey Schlanz to take a lead they would never relinquish. Her six unanswered points made it 11-5 and the hosts never looked back. Jessica Alvey also had a huge game serving.

The final set was back-and-forth as neither team could earn more than a three-point advantage at any time.

The Irish were led by Schlanz with 10 points and four kills. Alvey added seven points, which included a pair of aces. Amber LaMotte chipped in six points on four aces, and Lindsee Perry charted five points and three kills. Lindsey Froehlich added seven kills and a pair of aces. Also delivering strong performances were Lemasters, Sydney Helms, Caitlin Sliva, Gabrielle Santinceto and Karlee Vostatek.
