BOWMAN, Jay Mark, 61, of Wheeling, WV, died at Liza's Place September 4, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Jay was born June 12, 1952, in Wheeling, WV, the son of the late Charles W. and Gloria C. Bowman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Bowman and his lab, Whiskey of 13 years.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Nancy Hearne Bowman; one brother, Charles W. Bowman of VA; sons, Mark Lee Bowman (Shannon) and Michael Jay Bowman both of Wheeling; stepsons, Gary Hearne Maxwell of Wheeling and Richard Stockton Maxwell (Megan) of VA and seven grandchildren.
Jay started racing jet boats and cars for the Rod Shop in Columbus, OH for which he won many trophies. This led him to selling vehicles until joining the Blue Ribbon Paint Company, a family-owned business. Jay left Blue Ribbon as President to start Banfield Motor Company, then ended his car career at Accident Garage, in Accident, MD. Jay was in the top 10 percent of vehicle sales in the U.S. for over 10 years.
Living in Deep Creek since 2002, Jay was the only non local man who was truly excepted as born Deep Creek native. Jay was a stranger to no one and wanted everyone to know how thankful he was for all their love and friendship.
Friends will be received at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013, until time of the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mathews Church, 1410 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV with Reverend Mark E. Seitz officiating.
