Girls' Soccer: Patriots Girls Get By St. C.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Wheeling Park became the third West Virginia team to blank St. Clairsville in girls' soccer action Thursday night as the Patriots prevailed, 3-0.

Park had a 17-3 advantage in shots with Briella Taylor sending a laser over top of St. Clairsville goalkeeper Brianna Sowers from 22 yards out at the 22:30 mark of the first half to begin the scoring.

On the Patriots next shot, Mikia Mueller controlled a loose ball in the box and punched it along the turf just inside the left post and past a diving Sowers for a 2-0 score that stood at the half.

Park scored its last goal when Valerie Julian rebounded a corner kick and slipped it in net. All three goals were unassisted.

Sowers was called upon to make 14 saves on 17 shots.

Patriots' senior goalkeeper Devyn Nickerson stopped all three shots she saw.
