Rep. Shelley Moore Capito will speak when the Ohio River Valley Council of the Boy Scouts and Murray Energy Corp. host the annual Partnership Dinner on Oct. 14 at Oglebay Park.
The energy industry will be the focus of the dinner, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in Glessner Auditorium at Wilson Lodge.
A VIP reception prior to the event at 5:30 p.m. will provide major sponsors the opportunity to meet Capito and Murray Energy CEO Robert Murray.
"I am excited to take part in an event that celebrates the Boy Scouts," Capito said. "The Ohio River Valley Council is creating new opportunities for our young men to take part in the future and creates new leaders for tomorrow. It has been a positive influence on the lives of so many West Virginians, and with the help of other supporters of the Boy Scouts, such as our coal, oil and gas industries, many more generations of young men will learn important life skills and values that will serve them throughout their lives."
Capito is also the co-founder of the Congressional Coal Caucus, and the dinner will focus on the challenges and future of the energy industry.
The dinner is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Ohio River Valley Council, and money raised goes to the general Boy Scouting program, said scout executive Bob Drury.
The dinner is open to the public. Those interested in attending should call the council's service center at 304-277-2660.
