WHEELING - Homeowners in the market for new flooring have an opportunity to give back to the community and help save lives, as Carpet Showcase Flooring Center is raising money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure - a nonprofit organization leading the fight against breast cancer with its new Decorate for the Cure program.
The program is spearheaded by Mohawk, the world's largest flooring manufacturer.
A portion of each purchase of Mohawk's premium carpet cushion, SmartCushion by Mohawk, now goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign.
Christie Contraguerro, vice president of sales and marketing for Carpet Showcase Flooring Center, and David Contraguerro, vice-president of the residential division, show a swatch of SmartCushion by Mohawk while standing with a display in the store’s showroom offering pamphlets provided by Wheeling Hospital that include the latest breast health information.

In conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Carpet Showcase Flooring Center - located at 3527 Jacob St. in Wheeling - also is offering the latest breast health information, provided by Wheeling Hospital, through a display in store's showroom.
In addition, Carpet Showcase will offer promotions on all their SmartCushion products throughout the month of October.
"We take great pride in being the Ohio Valley's local flooring store," said Michael Contraguerro Sr., president of Carpet Showcase Flooring Center.
"This is our community and we want to make it the best place possible to live, work and raise a family. We are delighted to connect our customers with such a wonderful organization."
Contraguerro said the "Decorate for the Cure" campaign is just another way SmartCushion is living up to its name.
SmartCushion is eco-friendly, made from 90-percent recycled content, and includes antimicrobial additives and inhibits the growth of mold, mildew and fungus.
"We always tell our customers that installing quality carpet cushion makes a difference," Contraguerro said.
"Now that's true on a bigger level. Choosing SmartCushion will make a difference in the life of a mother, daughter, sister or friend diagnosed with breast cancer.
"It doesn't get better than that."
In addition, Carpet Showcase continues to receive attention through its "License to Spill campaign," as it has appeared in two publications - Floor Covering News and National Floor Trends. Carpet Showcase raised money for The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley during its "License to Spill campaign" held at the Wheeling Chili Cook-Off in June.
