PETRI, Doris Jean, 100, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in Peterson Hospital.

She was born September 13, 1913, in Cokeburg, PA, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Berardinelli) DeSilvestri.

Doris was a proud female patriot by working at the Ackerman Plant in Warwood producing bomb shells for our troops during WWII. She was also employed by Wheeling Stamping Co. for many years. Gardening and exercise were her hobbies. Her prize roses were shared by many, especially the office of her longtime friend and physician, Dr. Brian Van Pelt.

Doris enjoyed her last years at the Welty Home under the care of their loving staff. She attended daily mass and participated in many fun activities. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and dear friends.

Doris was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husbands, John Burkle, Henry Massa, and Eugene Petri, two brothers, James and William DeSilvestri and a sister Olga DeSilvestri.

Surviving is her loving daughter, Catherine Abraham of Wheeling, WV; three grandchildren, Paula (Mark) Coleman of Granville, OH, Dr. Paul (Diane) Schnupp of Chalfont, PA, Cathy (John) Garcia of Greensburg, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Thomas (Keri)Coleman, Matt Coleman, David and Mark Schnupp, Katie and Valerie Garcia, Jeffrey (Ashley) Garcia, two sisters; Rena DeSilvestri of Wheeling, Joya Pearla of Leominster, MA, a sister-in-law, Kay DeSilvestri of Wheeling, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 11, from 4-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12, at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Wheeling.

Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Welty Home, 21 Washington Ave., Wheeling, WV.
