School levies in the Bellaire, Shadyside and Switzerland of Ohio school districts top Belmont County ballots for the Nov. 5 general election.
The Bellaire Local School District is putting before voters an additional 5.9-mill levy for five years for the purpose of providing for the emergency requirements of the school district. The levy marks the school district's seventh attempt since 2010 to generate revenue for the financially strapped district.
The district last asked voters in the May 7 primary to pass a larger 8.25-mill levy.
The Shadyside School District, meanwhile, is asking voters to approve an additional 4.61-mill levy for five years for the emergency requirements of the school district, and the Switzerland of Ohio School District seeks an additional 7.72-mills for five years for the purpose of avoiding an operating deficit.
Voters across Belmont County will be asked to renew a senior service levy for 1.5 mills, and the Belmont County Library District is asking voters to approve a 1-mill levy to cover current operating expenses.
