MILTON, Charles Clark, Sr., 86, of Wheeling, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Liza's Place, Wheeling.
He was born on July 2, 1927, in Wheeling, and is the son of the late Eleanor Clark and Loring Milton.
Charlie graduated from Linsly Military Institute in 1945, Washington and Jefferson College and Carnegie Mellon (Carnegie Institute of Technology) in 1951 with an AB and BS degree in mechanical engineering. Charlie joined Bloch Brothers in 1951 and retired after 42 years as Vice President of Manufacturing. He was also general manager of production at the facilities in New Jersey, maintaining residence in both Wheeling and New Jersey for 13 years; and he was a U.S. Army veteran WWII.
A life-long Episcopalian dedicated to his faith and very active at both St. John's and St. Matthew's Episcopal Churches where he served as the Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Chairman of the Stewardship Committee, Diocesan delegate and member of the Diocesan Commission on Ministry from 1975 thru 1989.
He was also active in the community and did extensive travel over the years in the United States and internationally. He served as the President past and General Campaign Chairman for the United Way, Salvation Army Advisory Board, President for Children and Family Service, Board of Directors Wheeling Chamber of Commerce, Board member First National Bank of Wheeling Rotary, Quarter Century Club member and active football official.
Charlie is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Shirley Trosch Milton; two sons, Charles Clark Milton, Jr., and his wife, Elaine of Wheeling and Jonathan Milton and his wife, Kim of Cranberry Township, PA and a daughter, Elly Bradford and her husband, Patrick of Powell, OH; seven grandchildren, Valerie and Colin Milton, Elizabeth and Julie Milton, Isabella, Victoria and Alexandria Bradford; several nieces and nephews and caring friends.
Family will receive friend on Sunday, October 27, 2013, for a memorial celebration from 12:30-5 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1410 Chapline St., Wheeling with the Reverend Mark E. Seitz officiating.
