ENSINGER, Charles Christian, 90 of Sardis, OH, died Sunday October 27, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 10, 1922, in Sardis, a son of the late Charles and Bertha Huffman Ensinger.
He was a retired millwright of Ormet Corp., Hannibal, OH, and a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church.
Charles was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and participated in the Normandy Invasion.
Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Salisbury Ensinger; two brothers, William (Bud) and Paul (Pete) Ensinger; and two sisters, Margaret Brown and Eleanor Moser.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Ensinger of Sardis, and Bryan (Meg) Ensinger of New Martinsville, WV; three daughters, Brenda (Bert) Nolan of Reader, WV, Beverly (Dr. Bill) Adams of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and Becky Hall of Sardis; two sisters, Janet Tice of Woodsfield, OH and Shirley Sall of Vienna, WV; five grandchildren, Jed Ross of Harrisburg, PA, Breanna and Brady Nolan of Reader, Katie Ensinger of New Martinsville and Peyton Hall of Sardis.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery with military graveside services.
