Alice Morrison

MORRISON, Alice May Harris, of Mt. Pleasant, OH, died November 5, 2013, at the Forest Hills Retirement Center, St. Clairsville, OH, where she has resided since July.

She was born August 9, 1921, in Martins Ferry, OH, daughter of the late Brinley David Harris and Emma May Cox Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Forrest Morrison, whom she married on June 2, 1938, at Wellsburg, WV. To their union were born three children, Darlene Alice Morrison Binns, Robert Louis Morrison and Irma Pauline Morrison Hooker.

Her son, Robert Louis Morrison; a granddaughter, Maudie Ann Morrison; and her brother, Brinley D. Harris also preceded her in death,

Alice was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, returning to school after a 20 year absence not being able to complete her education at Martins Ferry High School in 1938 because of being married.

After retirement Alice and Dudley traveled the country in their RV enjoying winters in warmer climates and seeing the USA from coast to coast. After the death of Dudley, she still traveled and visited her family in other states.

Alice was a retired farmer, member of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Zane's Trace Chapter in St. Clairsville, OH, Colerain Extension Group, Colerain, Senior Center, OPALS, Keen-agers, Life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post, 5356 St. Clairsville, OH, Jefferson Country Farm Bureau, Mt. Pleasant First Presbyterian Church,

She served as a 4-H Leader for 10 years, Den Mother for the Harrisville Cub Scout Den for 4 years, leader of the Mt. Pleasant Brownie Troop 121 for 5 years. She was a 50 year member of the Ohio State Extension and enjoyed attending women's Camp for many years at Camp Piedmont.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Darlene Morrison Binns, St. Clairsville, OH and Irma George) Morrison Hooker of Mt, Pleasant, OH; grandchildren, Annette Binns (Bill) Lee and Edward E. Binns of Clarksville, GA, Pam Binns (Tim) Miller of Flushing, OH, Robert Louis Morrison and Jonathon Bartley Morrison both of Bloomingdale, OH and their mother, Beverly Morrison (Bruce) Riddle of Mt. Pleasant, OH, Heather Morrison (Phil) Harant of Baltimore, Maryland, Gina Hooker Borkoski, Ryan F. (Jessica) Hooker of Mt. Pleasant, OH and. Tracy A. Hooker (Thomas) Duffy of Charleston, SC. 15 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Doris Morrison, Edna Morrison and Hazel Morrison and many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant, OH.
