Gentle Dental Voted No. 1 for Fifth Consecutive Year

By IAN HICKS - Staff Writer , The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register

WHEELING - A visit to the dentist's chair does not have to be a frightening - or painful - experience. Dr. Donald Lough and his staff at Gentle Dental Care understand that, and that's why readers of The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register have voted them the area's best dental practice for the fifth consecutive year.

If you ask Lough, it's his dedicated and experienced staff that sets his practice, located at 98 Washington Ave. in Wheeling, apart.

"We listen to what people say, we treat people like we would want to be treated in the same circumstance, and we see people on time," he said.

Lough and his staff also realize that problems don't always crop up during normal business hours Monday through Friday. That's why the office is open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, and Lough is on call over the weekend to handle emergencies.

"If you're my patient, and you have a problem, you should be able to get a hold of me," Lough said.

Gentle Dental Care serves patients of all ages. They offer services ranging from basic cleaning to implants, dentures, bridgework and full reconstruction.

New high-definition, digital imaging technology allows Gental Dental to offer same-day restoration, including crowns and caps. Where such work used to take weeks because it had to be sent away to a laboratory, it can now be done right there in the office, producing a finished product that fits the patient's original tooth perfectly.

Lough and his staff carry combined experience of well over 200 years in the dentistry business.

"They are what makes this office function," Lough said.

Lough lives in Wheeling and is a native of Clarksburg. He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and completed his residency there before joining the downtown Wheeling practice of the late Dr. S. Arthur Rybeck Jr. in 1980.

He moved to his current location at the corner of Washington and Valley View avenues in 1998.
