WELLSBURG - The Wheeling Park boys' and girls' swim teams registered a sweep Saturday at Brooke High School in the Northern Panhandle Quint, which also included the host Bruins, Wheeling Central and John Marshall.
Behind a pair of relay victories, the Patriots boys swam past second-place John Marshall, 113-84. The Wheeling Park foursome of Zach Sherman, Nick Strope, Michael Mueller and Noah Salvatore captured the 400 frestyle relay in a time of 4:22.14. Sherman, Mueller and Salvatore teamed with Josh Brown to win the 200 freestyle victory.
Salvatore also was victorious in the 200 and 500 freestyles.
John Marshall winners included sophomore Nick Cecil (50 free) and Aaron Mull (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke). Brooke's team of James Harrick, Zach Barnette, Dante Rosso and Jakob Heilman won the 200 medley, while Rosso also claimed the 100 butterfly and Harrick the 100 backstroke.
On the girls' side, behind Emilee Heilman, who won the 100 backstroke and teamed with Cristin Dolan, Hannah Butts and Kaitlyn Curnes to capture to 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, Wheeling Park outdistanced Brooke, 124-107.
Dolan added an individual title in the 100 freestyle for the victors, while Curnes took home the 100 breaststroke title.
The Bruins were led by victories by Jessie Wayne (200 free), Morgan Zopp (50 free) and Emiley Czesztyicki (100 butterfly). Jade Worrels of John Marshall captured to 200 individual medley.
