A Cameron man was arrested Friday for allegedly breaking into a family's home in September searching for drugs and assaulting two men.

Jason Dwight Stern, 37, of 171 West Main St., was charged with burglary, robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony. Bond was set at $15,000.

According to the criminal complaint filed against Stern, Marshall County officers were on patrol around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 11 when they were contacted Steven Strohmeyer wished to file a larceny complaint of his vehicle. Officers arrived at Strohmeyer's residence about three miles east of the intersection of U.S. 250 and Georgetown Road where Strohmeyer informed them he wanted to file a separate complaint against Stern. The complaint states Strohmeyer did not file a complaint sooner because he felt his life was in danger.

According to the complaint, Strohmeyer stated at about 5 a.m. Sept. 25, Stern and two males arrived at his residence asking for gasoline. Strohmeyer replied he did not have any and shut the door. Strohmeyer then allegedly heard noises outside his residence and found the males outside and asked them to leave. Strohmeyer stated the males then began to approach him.

The complaint states Strohmeyer ran back to his residence, but the males grabbed him and began to strike him and forced their way into the house. Strohmeyer stated in the complaint Stern was the main aggressor and struck him repeatedly. Strohmeyer also stated the males demanded him to get them "high" while Stern held Strohmeyer down beating him with close fists and kicking him while the other males ransacked the house.

According to the complaint, Cody Lee Strohmeyer, also of the residence, woke up to Steven Strohmeyer screaming outside the trailer. Cody Strohmeyer stated he tried to keep the door shut with his mother Toni Strohmeyer, but Stern pushed his way into the trailer. Cody Strohmeyer said Stern hit him in the arm twice and punched his throat. According to the complaint, Cody Strohmeyer stated the males told him not to call 911 threatening they would come back to kill them and burn the trailer down. Cody Strohmeyer stated Stern also held a buck knife toward the family asking them to give him drugs, but eventually put the knife down throwing it behind the couch.

A statement from Toni Strohmeyer said she was able to leave the residence and go to a neighbor to call 911, but nobody answered the door. Toni Strohmeyer stated when she returned to the residence she had to convince the males she did not call 911. She said her son then was forced to give the males a ride and the males warned her not to call 911 or they would kill all of them.

A preliminary hearing for Stern will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 6.
