BITZER, Wanda Jean Closser, 65, of Valley Grove, WV, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Wheeling, WV, November 20, 1948, daughter of Della Evelyn Taggart Beever and the late Eugene LaVerne Closser.
Being a strong business woman, Mrs. Bitzer opened and ran Wanda's Bargain Barn, a convenience store in Triadelphia, and later opened Wanda's Cafe and Wanda's Coffee Shop. She was retired from Mt. DeChantal Visitation Academy where she was supervisor of the physical plant. She was a member of the West Alexander First Christian Church.
Wanda was known to many as "MaMa" because of her kindness and compassion for others. Her family was first and foremost with her and business was second. She loved traveling, especially the many trips with her family.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Johnny Carl Bitzer; a son, Johnny C. Bitzer, Jr. of Triadelphia, WV; a daughter, DeNita M. Bitzer of Valley Grove, WV; a sister, Shirley Davis and her husband, Robert of Columbus, OH; a brother, John W. Beever of Sherrard, WV; and three nephews, Gary L. Bitzer, Jr., Robert L. Davis, II, and Samuel A. Davis.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 29, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and again on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304-242-2311), where services will be held with the Reverend Bruce Graff officiating.
Interment in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA.
