PETER, Norman Eugene, 83, of Wilbur, W.Va., departed this life Sunday, December 1, 2013 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville.

He was born November 30, 1930 in Mercer, WI, he was delivered by a midwife, a son of the late Max Herman and Ruby Mae Behreandt Peter.

Norman was a U S Air Force CMSgt retired after 30 years of service. Some of the places he served were: 2ACCS (SAC) Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE, NE; 3rd ACCS (SAC) Grissom AFB, IN - in the "Order of the Blue Scarf"; 341st Supply Sq (SAC), Malmstorm AFB, Great Falls MT; 9th Supply Sq (SAC), Mountain Home AFB, ID; 72nd Supply Sq (SAC) Charleston AFB, SC; 5900 Maintanence and Supply Sq, Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico; 97th Sup Sq (SAC), Blytheville AFB, AR and under the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing 27 Aug 77 to 31 Oct 77. Also numerous TDY stations including Viet Nam, Trinidad and England. Norman was also a Paramedic for Middlebourne EMS and Alma EMS and worked for Tri-State Ambulance Service in Wheeling and Moundsville areas.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elmer Irving Peter, Byron Paul Peter and Sylvia Ann Peter Cook.

In 1957, he married Donna Jo Milburn from Canton, OH and they have Karen Hanson, Annadale, VA, Norman E. Peter II, Wilbur, Max H. Peter, St. Mary's, Diana M. Doucet, Berryville, VA, Rachel J. Hall, Heathsville, VA, Paul D. Peter, Ludwigsburg, Germany and Patric A. Peter, Berryville, VA. 12 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.

Friends will be received 9 am to 11 am the time of the service Friday, December 6, 2013 at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne. The service will be presided over by Father James McCafferty.

Military rites will be provided by VFW Post, 6327, Sistersville, VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville, American Legion Post, 67, Sistersville, American Legion Post, 86, Paden City and American Legion Post, 28, New Martinsville.
