STEUBENVILLE - Lysiah Rice put back her own miss as time was winding down to help Steubenville's girls earn a thrilling 50-48 victory against Weir on Monday inside The Crimson Center.
Rice's hoop capped a fourth quarter that featured eight lead changes and an outstanding offensive performance by Red Ridesr junior Raegan Stead. Weir knotted the score at 48-48 with 25 seconds left after Stead drove to the hoop for two after recording a steal on the defensive end.
Rice had eight of Big Red's 14 fourth quarter points while Barker added five.
Rice recorded a double-double for the winners with her 20 points and 11 rebounds. Barker finished with 10.
Alyssa Shingle netted 18 (16 coming in the opening half) to pace the Riders. She swished four from long distance. Stead finished with 15 and Selena Wolverton nine. Maddie Dalrymple had eight rebounds to pace Weir.
