During their last meeting for this year, Benwood City Council members and other municipal officials had to work around quite a bit of clutter in council chambers.
The mess was gifts and other items to be used Sunday, during the annual community Christmas party for children. It begins at 2 p.m. at Sts. James and John School.
The event has become a Christmas tradition in Benwood, with the goal of ensuring every child who attends the party gets something nice.
All those in the community who donate time, merchandise or money are to be commended. City officials and their spouses who spearhead the program, to the point of taking care of tasks such as filling gift bags, earn high praise.
Good for them, for focusing on their youngest constituents.
