Minitta Schafer

SCHAFER, Minitta "Liz," 86, of Wheeling, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Wheeling Hospital.

She was born August 20, 1927 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Leo and Madeline Minch Schafer.

Liz was retired from Warwood Armature Repair Co., was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Good Shepherd and the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store.

Minitta was known for being a very caring, loving and gracious lady, always giving to others without asking for anything in return. Many lives were touched by her caretaking way. Always a kind word she spoke and a radiant smile to those who crossed her path. She had a very strong Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Weisenborn.

Surviving is a sister, Martha Meadows, of Wheeling; a niece, Jacquelyn Weisenborn, of Wheeling; nephews, Dr. Gary Weisenborn, of Stafford, VA, Dale Weisenborn, of Wheeling, Scott Weisenborn and his wife Robin, of Fairmont, WV; and a close family friend, Roger Nichols.

There will be no visitation.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements by the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, Wheeling.
