KELLAS, Evangeline (Spanos) "Vangie," 91, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 in Forest Hills Retirement Community, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Mrs. Kellas was born May 16, 1922 in Dillonvale, Ohio, the daughter of the late Theodore and Matrona (Papastamatiou) Spanos.
She was a retired astrology professor for West Virginia Northern Community College and a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, Wheeling. She was also past president of the Ohio County Medical Auxiliary; founder and charter member of the Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary; and a member of the National Congress of Geocosmic Research, the American Federation of Astrologers, the Philoptochos Society and the Oglebay Institute.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kellas was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George M. Kellas; her son, George M. Kellas II, in 2009; and brothers John and George Spanos.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sherri Kellas of Wheeling; three grandchildren: George Kellas III, Max Kellas and Lydia Kellas; a sister-in-law, Lolli Mastin of Las Vegas, NV; a nephew; and several nieces, cousins and godchildren.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Eugen Rosu officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV 26003.
