Colene Creighton

CREIGHTON, Colene "Miss Cookie," 81, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV.

She was born January 19, 1932 in Oakhill, WV, the daughter of the late Rev. John Thomas and Bessie Waldrup Thomas.

Mrs. Creighton was a 1950 graduate of Dubois High School and a Baptist by faith.

She had a candy store in her home for the kids in the neighborhood. Mrs. Creighton was a tough cookie, who loved bingo, gambling, and her family. She was a great house wife and took care of everyone. Mrs. Creighton also loved cooking, traveling and taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Pippens, Anna Mae Wade, Betty I. Minter; a brother, Obie Thomas; a son, William E. Creighton, Jr.; a grandson, Robert D. Creighton and a great-granddaughter, Jaelin E. Creighton.

Surviving are a daughter, Allecia M. Creighton of Cleveland, OH; a son, Keith Creighton, Sr. and his wife, Beth of Wheeling; grand-kids, Deondray, Jamar, Brandon, KeShawn, Bryant Jr, Austyn Creighton and KeTara Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and loved ones.

Friends will be received at the Kepner Funeral Home, 1308 Chapline St., Wheeling, (304-232-5110) on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 4-8 p.m.. Service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Melvin G. Rippy officiating. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV 26003 or Valley Hospice, 10686 St. Rt. 150, Rayland, OH 43943, in her honor.

The Creighton family would like to thank everyone for their time, love, food, prayers, flowers, cards and letters during our time of bereavement. We give a special thanks to Valley Hospice, Macedonia Baptist Church, Bishop Joseph H. Hodges Continuous Care Center, and all those who visited, loved and cared for our mother. She will be missed but never forgotten. THANK YOU!
