West Point Products, a supplier for the imaging industry, is relocating its remaining sales and administrative offices in Valley Grove to its corporate headquarters in Washington, Pa.
The change affects about 45 workers. Approximately half of the Valley Grove employees affected by the change will be offered positions at the Washington facility.
West Point Products President Tom Day said he hopes many of the workers who have been offered employment at the headquarters will make the lateral move with the company.
West Point Products makes replacement laser toner cartridges and provides related imaging supplies and services. The company also has operations in eight other states, Canada and Mexico.
Day said his company leases the building in Valley Grove and the lease is up at the end of March. He anticipates the move to Washington will be complete by March 31.
"This will be a gradual move over the next three months. We anticipate by March 31 to be out of the Valley Grove building, which is when our lease expires," Day said.
He said West Point Products is not downsizing but is streamlining for a more feasible operation. Day maintains the company is growing, having acquired several other businesses throughout the country.
In a prepared statement, Day said, "Our industry has been continuously consolidating for several years resulting in an increasingly challenging global market environment. In an effort to maintain our competitive position in the marketplace, we've determined that it's no longer economically feasible for us to continue to operate two facilities in such close proximity to one another. We regret the impact these moves will have on our affected employees and their families and greatly appreciate the contribution of each employee and thank them for their years of dedicated service."
Day said an early response from employees indicates several will be transferring to the Washington facility.
