MOUNDSVILLE - One man was injured when a home at 121 Olive Ave. went up in flames Friday afternoon.
Neighbors stood by as the house was destroyed by the fire, gutting the inside of the house and causing the porch roof to collzapse.
According to Moundsville City Fire Chief Noel Clarke, the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Clarke was not sure of the extent of the man's injuries, and his identity was not released.

Clarke said the fire "had a big head start" when crews arrived on scene at about 3:30 p.m. The Moundsville City Fire Department, Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department, Moundsville Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
"There were some hot spots inside where enclosed spaces are burning," Clarke said on scene. "It's manageable now."
The siding on surrounding houses also was damaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
