As the holiday season comes to an end, once again we feel the need to recognize some wonderful people. We never thought that after the huge donation at Thanksgiving by the local craft unions, URS and their subcontractors to the Wheeling Soup Kitchen that we would be able to make another tremendous impact to the area in just three short weeks. Again, these are the workers that are building the Williams Fractionation Plant south of Moundsville.
What was initially to be a toy drive soon escalated into a coat and toy drive. The monetary outpouring by these workers was unbelievable. For example, it was heartwarming to see the labor groups walk in the safety office with arm loads of coats and telling us there would be more coming, since they could relate to trying to stay warm while working outside. They made sure the children in the area had coats, hats and gloves. Once again we needed a connex to store all of the donations. Each time, the workers have been exceedingly generous with their donations.
We were able to help children on both sides of the Ohio River this holiday season. We helped several schools and a church and in all helped make Christmas a little merrier for over 100 children.
It has been a wonderful experience working with these men and women who give so unselfishly from the heart and gave back to the children. We would like to say thank you to all of them and hope they had a happy holiday.
