Dennis Fahey

FAHEY, Dennis Joseph, 89, of Wheeling passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling.

He was born September 27, 1924, in Wheeling a son of the late George and Blanche Schiffer Fahey.

He was a retired employee of Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company, affiliated with the former Kain Club, South Wheeling, and a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Wheeling, and the former St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in South Wheeling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith June Fahey in 2010; and by his beloved son, James D. Fahey in 2007; and six sisters, Angel, Rhea, Blanche, Angela, Patricia (Sr. Claire Joseph, SJ) and Mary Ann (Molly) McCormick.

Surviving is a son, George Fahey and his wife Patricia of Wheeling; a daughter-in-law, Janette Fahey and son Jeffrey A. Fahey and his wife Diane of Shadyside OH; three brothers, George A. Fahey and John E. "Jack" Fahey and his wife Katie of Wheeling and Robert F. Fahey and his wife Dorothy of Bridgeport, OH; a sister, C. E. "Betty" Fahey of Wheeling, who was diligently by his side and cared for him until the very end; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Eric and his wife Nancy, Jennifer Fahey Glasser, Christine, Lisa, Amanda, Matthew and Mark Fahey; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Dennis was a kind loving man whose joy in life was his family and being generous to people. You never left his house empty handed. He was an avid Steelers and Notre Dame Fan and rooted for WVU as long as they were not playing his beloved Notre Dame. He will be remembered for his Christmas decorations in his yard and walking his best friend "Lucky."

The family wishes to also express their gratitude for the kindness and genuine care given to him by the staff at Good Shepherd

Friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Beiswenger Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, on Friday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at Our Lady of Lebanon Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon, 2216 Eoff Street, Wheeling, or Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling.
