MCMECHEN - A couple of messages were delivered in rather emphatic fashion Wednesday night.

A basketball team with more depth is generally going to have the upper hand in almost every situation and, if the starters are forced to sit, watch out for Bishop Donahue's superior depth.

With four regulars sitting out the first quarter of Wednesday's game with Paden City, the Bishops never missed a beat.

Bishop Donahue ran out to a 22-12 first -quarter lead and were never threatened in an 82-55 victory against the visiting Wildcats.

The different starting lineup was explained like this by Bishop Donahue coach Tom Wise.

"It was an internal matter that we have dealt with," Wise said. "I think they got the message."

The Bishops new starting unit, which included Taylor Straughn, Hunter Kaschke, Drew Moore and Lane Lemasters along with regular Jesse Padlow, did not veer from standard operating procedure, pressing the Wildcats and running at a breakneck pace, designed to wear down the depth-challenged visitors.
