Regarding the Jan. 12 article, "Spill A Blow To W. Va. Economy." As bad as it seems currently, the pollution caused by the chemical spill is relatively temporary. In a few weeks at most, it will be thoroughly diluted in the Ohio River and other streams. A much worse pollution problem is the one million plastic bottles from the one million liters of water delivered to the area by FEMA. All one million plastic bottles will be discarded after use and remain in the environment in some form for thousands of years. The plastic bottles will never disappear completely - just converted to smaller and smaller pieces of plastic.
