GEER, Edward A., 75, of Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Bellaire Acuity, Ohio.
He was born February 18, 1938, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Carl William and Carlotta Bell Birch Geer.
Edward was a retired Carpenter of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, member of the Elm Grove Eagles and SOARS, enjoyed woodworking, avid outdoorsman and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, William Carl Geer; and sister, Helen Humes.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Julia Marie Kunik Geer of Wheeling; four children, Phillip (Joyce) Geer of Wheeling, Anna (Michael) Schrebe of Wheeling, Julliette Geer of Wheeling and Andrew Geer of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Letha Bell Wenzel of Benwood Hill, WV; seven grandchildren, Adam and James Geer of Steubenville, OH, Marcus Ryan Geer of Wheeling, Sean (Blake) Geer of California, Jayna Simms and Vince Whilt of Benwood, James Geer of Wheeling , Jennifer (Justin) Cole of Moon Township, PA and Charles A. Kraft Jr.; four great grandchildren, Austin Cole, Anelise Cole, Bradley Kraft and Page Elizabeth Whilt and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Monday, February 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood/ McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, with a Vigil Service being held at 6 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 4, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, McMechen, with Rev. Bekeh Utietiang serving as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
