HAWKEY, Rexell "Hawk," 61, of Jerusalem, OH, formerly of Proctor, WV, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at his home.

Rex was born on August 19, 1952, in New Martinsville, WV, son of the late Charles "Bud" and Rosemary Doty Hawkey.

Employee of A&M Muffler, loved working on cars and worked as a mechanic for most of his life, owned his own auto body repair shop at one time, H&H Body Shop, named after his daughters, Heather and Holly, loved to grow vegetables in his garden, hunting and fishing, proud of his Cherokee heritage and loved collecting Native American memorabilia.

Surviving are his daughters, Heather (Tim) Ent of Whitsett, NC and Holly (Ben) Simpkins of Largo, FL; grandson, Austin Simpkins; four sisters, Carla (Dick) Cook, Cindy (Todd) Bates, Jodi Forrester and Julie Hawkey; the mother of his daughters and love of his life, Shelia Hawkey and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on 3 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 521 Maple Ave., New Martinsville, with Rev. Dr. Victor Hunter officiating.
