NEW MARTINSVILLE - Paden City scored early and often en route to a Class A, Region One, Section Two victory against Trinity Christian Tuesday at Magnolia High School.
Behind 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists from Zach Heasley, Paden City roared out to a commanding lead (23-7 after one and 32-12 at the half) and never looked back.
"The key was, we made a few shots early and we were able to sustain it," Paden City coach Fred King said. "The kids played pretty poised. Every time they would make a run, and cut it back to 14, we made a couple of quick baskets. We had an answer for everything they threw at us tonight."
Paden City (12-11) also got 18 points and 14 rebounds from Kennedy Cain and 15 points and 11 boards from Luke Cooper.
Hayden Hizer dished out seven assists for the Wildcats, the No. 2 seed in Section Two.
Roger Scott had 12 points for Trinity.
Paden City will face Section Two No. 1 seed Clay-Battelle in the sectional championship Friday. The Cee-Bees beat St. Marys 56-52 in overtime.
