TRAVIS, Marjorie E., 94, formerly of Mounds-ville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born August 5, 1919, in Parkersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Jennie M. Wescott Williams.
Marjorie was a member of Calvary United Metho-dist Church for 72 years and volunteered in a number of capacities. She worked in numerous committees for the church including its Altar Guild, Administrative Board, Membership Committee, and the Building Committee that built the present church in 1956.
She married Harry Travis on August 25, 1940, at Calvary Methodist to continue the family involvement in the church since it began in 1903 when Harry's mother, Laura, joined the church as a charter member.
She was also a former Pythian Sister and Den Mother for the National Trail Council.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Travis and two sisters Helen and Dorothy.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Micki) Travis of Wheeling, Gary (Linda) Travis of Williamsburg, VA; six grandchildren, Scott (Caroline) Travis of Travelers Rest, SC, Brad (Michele) Travis of Charlotte, NC, Craig (Lisa) Travis of Morgantown, WV, Kimberly (Jason) Cryder of Antioch, IL, Mindy (Steven) Taylor of Gloucester, VA, Michael (Nicole) Travis of Leesburg, VA; a brother, Charles "Bud" Williams of Fellsmere, FL; 11 great- grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1601 1st St., Moundsville, with Pastor Greg Blair officiating.
Private entombment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Valley Hospice, or Ohio River Valley Council Boy Scouts.
