MULHERN, Mildred (Millie) Pauline Horvath, 76, of Wheeling, WV, passed away March 28, 2014, at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, after a long a courageous battle with heart disease.
She was born in Homestead, PA on June 29, 1937, and was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Gatzey) Horvath.
Millie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and child of God who raised two children with her loving and adoring husband of 56 years. Together they loved their five grandchildren and showed an unwavering love and passion for the game of tennis. So deep was their love of tennis that they shared the game with hundreds of youth in the area through the Ohio Valley Tennis Academy and the Wheeling Oglebay Tennis Club.
Millie leaves behind her devoted husband, Gerald (Jerry) Mulhern; her daughter, Maureen Denfeld and her husband Paul, and their three children, Michael, Jeffrey and James; and her son, Gary Mulhern, and his twin daughters, Emily and Abigail. In addition, Millie leaves behind six brothers and sisters, Marie (Robert) Liner, Geraldine (Richard) Dantzler, Florence Guerrero, John (Patricia) Horvath, Stephen (Kathy) Horvath, Robert (Karen) Horvath, and several nieces, nephews and family members that loved her dearly.
Friends will be received at Altmeyer's Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling on Tuesday, April 1 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Michael Parish in Wheeling at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 with Rev. Thomas Gallagher as celebrant.
