BILLICK, Sylvia Aldean 96, lifelong resident of Valley Grove, W.Va., died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born June 6, 1917 in Valley Grove, the daughter of the late Samuel Perry and Margaret Cook Wood.
She was a retired seamstress at the former Wickhams Formal Attire, and a member of the Dallas United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Oak Grove Homemakers, Ohio County Farm Bureau, the Methodist Women, West Alexander Golden Agers, and AARP. She also participated in many facets with the Ohio County 4H.
She loved gardening, quilting, and was a creative artist. Above all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew her as GG.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Clare Billick; daughter, Carol B. Shinnamon; brothers, S. Merrille Wood, and Thomas D. Wood; sisters, Martha Ellis, and Ivie Blayney; sister-in-law, Corinne Bowers.
Surviving are her sons, Richard E. Billick of Columbus, OH., and Kenneth E. Billick and his wife, Patricia of Valley Grove; daughters, Kathie B. Wineman and her husband, Lonnie of Wheeling, WV., and Doris J. Dunaway and her husband, Charles of Washington, PA.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their loving care.
Friends will be received Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2312) where services will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Lisa Fox officiating.
Interment in Park View Memorial Gardens.
