WHEELING - One of three men wanted for allegedly breaking into a Wheeling Island home last week and shooting a man in the face turned himself in to authorities Wednesday evening.

Treyvon Makelle Montgomery, 23, was arraigned late Wednesday on a charge of first degree robbery by Ohio County Magistrate Harry Radcliffe, who set bond at $250,000 cash. Radcliffe said upon asking Montgomery his address, Montgomery was unable to provide one, forcing Radcliffe to set the high bond. Radcliffe said if Montgomery posts bond, he would be required to be placed on monitored home confinement.

According to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday, officers were dispatched at 12:15 p.m. Friday to 96 Maryland St. for a person shot in the head. The victim told officers three men forced their way into his home and held him and his daughter at gun point while robbing them of marijuana and money.

The victim's daughter told officers she recognized one of the men as Montgomery, as he did not have his face covered.

She said at least two of the men had firearms, and one of them ordered her to the ground while Montgomery and the other suspect went into her father's bedroom.

Once inside the room, the woman said she heard the men order her father to open a safe containing marijuana and money. She was then taken into the bedroom, where she said she heard the men use the name "Treyvon" at least once.

The female said her father attempted to reach under a pillow to grab a pistol he keeps for protection. According to the complaint, one of the men noticed this and flipped the pillow before the victim could grab the gun. One of the suspects then shot the victim in the left side of the face before the group fled the home. The complaint states the men stole an undisclosed amount of cash, a shotgun, ammunition and marijuana before they fled.

The two remaining suspects were described by the female as black men having "poofy" afro-style hair and same overall appearance as Montgomery. One suspect had a red bandanna over his face, while the other had a similar red face covering.

On Wednesday, Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger confirmed his department was looking for additional suspects, though he did not specify how many or provide additional details. Additionally, the complaint filed against Montgomery does not clearly indicate which person allegedly shot the victim. However, first-degree robbery cites the use of threats and deadly force using a firearm or other deadly weapon as the basis for the charge.

Earlier Wednesday, police issued a wanted poster and information on Montgomery that named him as a suspect in the case. Schwertfeger said Montgomery turned himself in at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, hours after that information was made public.
