GEBHARDT, Robert Thomas, passed away April 4, 2014, at his home.
Born January 5, 1927.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Todd Edgar/Gebhardt (Gigi) of 62 years.
Surviving are his three children, Kathy Jo Lutz, Robert Todd Gebhardt and his wife, Candace Nau, Kimberly Litman and her husband, Barry Litman. Blessed with six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
A sergeant in the U.S. Army, Bob was a Veteran of WW2, and a ranking military Police Officer. He was a personal body guard to General McArthur.
Bob retired from Cerrone & Vaughn Engineering Company at the young age of 56. He then worked for the O.C.P.S.D. as general manager. He was best known for his unmatched work ethics, and the development and construction of the majority of all water and sewage systems in the Ohio Valley and entire state of WV.
He was a proud member and Past Master of the West Liberty Lodge and an active member of the Osiris Shrine, The York Rite, The Commandery of St. Francis and Legion of Honor.
It was obvious of his love for God, his family, and his country.
Personally, Robert T. Gebhardt was a confident, tall, handsome man. He was strong, dedicated, and loyal. We all benefitted from his generosity and wisdom.
His one hope was that all children learn to swim ... as many did in his private pool.
His passion was the Osiris Shrine. He was hopelessly in love and together again with his Gigi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Osiris Shrine Center, Monument Place, P.O. Box 2048, Wheeling, WV 26003.
Services and interment held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements by the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling (304-242-2311).
