A garage on Pine Avenue was destroyed Monday after a dump truck carrying dirt crashed into the structure Monday afternoon.
Workers tow a dump truck from a yard on Kanawha Street after the truck’s driver lost control of its brakes while traveling on U.S. 250 Monday afternoon in Moundsville.
The truck's path destroyed a garage and flattened several fences. Police reported a vehicle in the garage was also damaged during the incident.
Moundsville police reported the wet ground in the yards caused by rainfall helped to slow the truck down and possibly saved the driver's life. The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Ohio Valley Medical Center. No one else was hurt in the accident.
Police said the West Virginia Department of Transportation will have to evaluate the vehicle before law enforcement takes action on citing the driver or the company.
Moundsville Police Department, Moundsville Fire Department and the WVDOT responded to the scene.
The truck was towed to Middle Creek Garage.
