Clarence Hewitt, 76, of Moundsville, WV, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, WV.
Clarence was born August 31, 1937, in Marshall County, a son of the late Willey and Ellsie Plants Hewitt.
He was a retired surveyor with the West Virginia Department of Highways, and a member of the Cornerstone Church of God in Moundsville.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and for his kindness to all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Fisher, Marie Kidd and Nellie Hill; a brother, Leroy Hewitt; a step-son, Danny W. Crow.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 18 years, Phyllis J. Loy Crow Hewitt; two step-sons, Don (Pam) Colvin of Moundsville and Robert Crow of Moundsville; a step-daughter, Pamela Brown of Moundsville; two brothers, Dale (Twila) Hewitt of Moundsville and Paul (Donna) Hewitt of Moundsville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday, May 16, 2014, from 1 p.m. to the time of memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, with Rev. Ron Wilfong and Rev. Bill Toler officiating.
Mr. Hewitt was an organ donor.
Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
A luncheon will be held at the Cornerstone Church of God after the Memorial Service.
