Wheeling police arrested Alexander Michael McKinley last week after a woman accused him of biting her and spitting on her.
McKinley, 18, of 18 Ohio St., is free on $1,000 personal recognizance bond set my Ohio County Magistrate Harry Radcliffe.
A criminal complaint said an officer met with the alleged victim at the Island Coffee Shop to discuss an earlier domestic situation.
The woman said she and McKinley, her boyfriend, were engaged in an argument at their apartment when she began packing his belongings before he entered the room and pushed her. She claimed they began wrestling and McKinley bit her on the back and right arm and that he spit on her.
The complaint states the officer noticed what appeared to be bite marks on her arm and upper back and she had scrapes on both knees and on her right arm.
According to the report, officers went to the Ohio Street apartment and arrested McKinley, who claimed he did not bite the victim, but she had bitten herself.
"McKinley advised that (the victim) has been arrested for a domestic against him in the past and she said she would put marks on herself so that would not happen again," the complaint states.
The officer also noticed marks on McKinley.
